![]() Yellow Tangs (05/04/07) For many people, abstract art is difficult to understand. It may depend on the degree the artist has taken his or her impression of the abstract. Claude Monet for example did a series of "Water Lilies", that are abstract in nature, but representational enough that the viewer has some notion of what they are looking at. Taken to a further degree, pure abstract art is so imperceptive that the view has to wonder what the artist was thinking. My goal in attempting to present, in an abstract manner, the light, color, texture, and form of nature found here in Hawaii, is simply to induce in the viewer a reaction, be it emotional, logical, conscious or unconscious so that it influences the viewer in some manner. In the end, if you see something you've never seen before and find yourself thinking about it, and hopefully enjoying the moment, then I've done my job. |
