| Information The Day Book link, inspired by "The Daybooks of Edward Weston", takes you to my most recent exposure. The image is accompanied by musings regarding the work. In fact, this site is based on my belief that a photo may be worth a thousand words, but there are times when a thousand words can set the stage, provide technical details, or simply tell the rest of the story.

Dapper - Waikoloa, Hawaii. March, 2007 After only 5 days, I'm beginning to feel like I live on the island and hopefully, I'm beginning to lose my malihini look and have traded in my socks and shoes for rubbah slippahs. It took us 6 months to get here, and I know we gave up a lot in the process. My initial impression is that it was worth it. My goal over the coming years, as a photographer and fledgling writer, is to some how capture and share the aloha spirit, aloha way of life, and aloha culture - so stay tuned. There is such great beauty here and certainly the music is an integral part of the Hawaiian culture. This photo, taken during a Ohta-san performance at Waikoloa Village, is my first attempt to share a look at the local music. I love this man's (Nando Suan) smile. When I took it, it was as if he was saying to me, "aloha brah, welcome to The Big Island". He do be cool! |
